About/History:
The Art Institute of Houston trains students in the media arts, culinary, design and fashion management. From its founding in 1965, until joining The Art Institutes system of schools in 1978, The Art Institute of Houston was known as the Houston School of Commercial Art. In December 1990, the school moved to its current facility at 1900 Yorktown in the Galleria area.

Led by an executive committee and a group of academic department chairs, our instructors have the tools that are necessary to deliver learner-centered education and our curriculum content is reviewed regularly to ensure we are delivering relevant instruction. Full-time instructors and staff members enjoy participating in our great benefit programs that include a group health plan, paid time off, and a 401K retirement savings plan. We operate on a quarterly schedule with a break between each quarter.
